The Best Time for a Quick Conception

Trying to conceive is a very important stage in your journey towards parenthood. There are some situations where there is a limited time window for conception to take place. If this is the case, then it is good to know when is the best time for conception, so it can happen as soon as possible. In this article, we will look at what ovulation is, the ovulation window and what this means in practical terms for conception to take place.

Ovulation is when an egg is released from your ovaries. It is when this egg is released that it is possible to get pregnant. An egg lives for around twelve to twenty-four hours after it is released, so timing can be key for a successful quick conception. It’s important to remember that sex does not have to occur exactly within this timeframe, as it is possible for sperm to survive in the body for up to seven days.

This ovulation window of twelve to twenty-four hours can seem like a scarily small amount of time. However, there are ways in which your body tells you that you are ovulating. Firstly, if you have a regular menstrual cycle it is possible to work backwards and work out when ovulation occurs. This is because ovulation occurs around ten to sixteen days before your period starts. Therefore, you can create a window of when ovulation will occur, if you can work out when your next period will begin. Secondly, your cervical mucus will become wetter, clearer and more sleepy during ovulation. Thirdly, your body temperature increases during ovulation occurs, so it might be noticeable using an accurate thermometer. It’s important to remember that this change in body temperature might not always be definitely shown by a thermometer. Finally, you can also get ovulation predictor kits which detects when you are ovulating, due to hormones that are released and are present in your urine.

Using a combination of these methods can help you work out as accurately as possible when ovulation will occur. It is not recommended to rely on just one of these methods.

It is recommended to not let ovulation be the only factor to consider when trying to conceive, as regularity is also extremely important. Therefore, if trying for a quick conception, it’s important to aim to be having sex every two or three days.
