Top Chef Masters : How Lost Helped Her Win

Top Chef Masters : How Lost Helped Her Win

In this exclusive interview with tvguidemagazine.com, Suzanne Tracht, chef and owner of Los Angeles’ Jar restaurant, gives us the scoop on her love of Dr. Pepper, how it paid off to be a fan of Lost and her under-the-radar Round 2 win on Top Chef Masters.

When the challenge was introduced to cook dinner for some of the writers and creators of Lost, you seemed to be the only competitor familiar with the show. Why?
It’s on at a time at night when chefs are working. The first time I ever saw Lost, my son, Max, and I went to rent a video. I told him, “I heard that Lost is really good.” So we got the first season. We started watching it in the afternoon and before we knew it, it was time for bed.

So when you saw the array of island ingredients what did you think?
It was like Christmas on a table to me! I could live off of those foods every day—oysters, green mango, chicken, wild boar. I just thought, “Woo hoo. I’m going to cook everything!” So I imagined myself on a desert island. Then I thought, “What would John Locke do?” Then I opened up six coconuts and used the water to make a stock for risotto.

Lost’s Lindelof Talks Marketing Watchmen, Lost for Geeks

By Gillian Reagan

Damon Lindelof, executive producer and co-creator of ABC’s Lost, had a recent conversation with his personal trainer about Watchmen, Zack Snyder’s film adaptation of the much-beloved (and complicated!) 1986 original comic-book series that will be released in theaters tomorrow. “Have you heard of this Watchmen thing? What is it?” his trainer asked. “Little does he know, I’ve read it like nine times and am obsessed with it,” Mr. Lindelof told The Observer in a phone interview from his California office.

‘Nip/Tuck’ scoop: ‘Lost’ grad is Sean’s MIA bro

‘Nip/Tuck’ scoop: ‘Lost’ grad is Sean’s MIA bro

Sean McNamara’s family tree is having a little work done.

Nip/Tuck has tapped Lost alum Neil Hopkins (he played Charlie’s heroin-addicted sibling, Liam) to join the cast as Sean’s long-lost brother, Brendan, sources confirm to me exclusively.

An FX rep wouldn’t confirm the hire, but a Nip/Tuck insider describes the character — who’ll be introduced at the tail end of the show’s upcoming sixth season — as a recovering meth addict (pigeonholed much, Neil?) who has been living on a nature preserve. “Sean thought his brother had died,” explains the source. “So he’s definitely surprised to see him.”

Nip/Tuck’s fifth season concludes on March 3. FX has yet to announce a launch date for season 6, but Wikipedia puts it at early 2010, followed by the series-concluding seventh season in 2011. Take that with a grain of salt, though.

What do you think about Sean getting a brother? Intriguing development, or the latest in a long line of shark-jumping moments for the show? Sound off below!

“American Idol” to take on “Lost”

By James Hibberd

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) – The Fox network is shaking up Wednesday night by swapping reality hit “American Idol” and the new police procedural “Lie to Me.”

Once the singing competition moves into the finals March 11, Fox will pivot “Idol” to 9 p.m., turning its ratings Death Star against ABC’s “Lost” for the rest of season.

The Tim Roth-starring “Lie to Me” will stay out of the way by shifting to 8 p.m.

Though “Idol” and “Lost” tend to have different audiences, last week Fox aired a two-hour “Idol” that stretched into the 9 p.m. hour and seemed to take a little steam out of the mystery thriller, whose ratings have fallen with each episode this season.

For “Lie,” the move is a mixed blessing. The drama won’t have nearly as much competition at 8 p.m. Wednesday, but it won’t have “Idol” for a lead-in either.

This is the first time in two years that “Lost” has faced “Idol.”
