| Lost Action Figure Launch |
Today I went to the Action Figure Launch at the Toys R Us in
Times Square NYC. This event was attended by Jorge
Garcia, Bryan Burk, and Todd McFarlane. You were required to pre-order a Hatch
Box set in order to get their autograph.
I got there a little late because I
took off work early. I waited outside for an hour holding the giant Hatch Box
Set and made friends with the people in line. Lost fans are the best!
The event was really well done with
lots of staff to make sure the line went fast but at the same time making sure
everyone got some time with the attendees. It was a little bit of a dance once
I got to the front of the line since we had to take the Hatch out of our bag
have our camera out and ready, have our ticket ready and oh yeah here’s a free
Lost magazine. Ran out of hands there.
While I waited I noticed Todd
McFarlane going over some details of the Hatch Set with the fan in front of me
as well as a helper. It was easy to see he had a great eye for detail and
really cared about his work. When it was my turn he was quick to say hi and
shake my hand. I was somewhat distracted since he was sitting right next to the
one and only Jorge Garcia but he was a true professional and I complimented him
on his work.
I then moved on to Jorge whom I
thanked for responding to my post to him on The Fuselage. I didn’t expect him
to remember me specifically but I didn’t expect him not to remember that he was
on recently. He said he felt bad he hadn’t been on more but I assured him that
he had been and even responded to me. In hindsight I think it was due to the
fact I said “a couple days ago” when I meant “a few days ago”. Jorge if you are
reading this it’s totally my bad!
I then moved on to Executive Producer
Bryan Burk. My first question to him is what he thought of Lost-Media.Com. He
asked if it was my site and I said no but I worked on it. Jorge then went on to
say that he went to Lost-Media.Com often to download pictures and that he
really liked it. Burk then went on to admit that he did not have many Lost
sites bookmarked but that Lost-Media.Com was one of them. I thanked them both
profusely and moved on since I had already taken up too much of their time.
From there I went downstairs to
purchase a Locke figure (to set free in my yard to hunt mice per Terry
O’Quinn’s instructions) as well as take as many pictures as I could of the
other figures. I did post them here and I apologize for the quality but it was
really crowded and I felt weird taking pictures of stuff I wasn’t going to buy.
It was a great event and I’d like to
thank Jorge Garcia, Bryan Burk, and Todd McFarlane for being so kind to their
fans. I’d also like to give a shout out to the 3 people I met in line. I don’t
know your names but thank you for making a lovely day even more enjoyable.
