Lost alum Jorge Garcia has been cast in J.J. Abrams‘ Fox drama Alcatraz, reports Deadline.

The hush-hush storyline line focuses on mysteries involving the infamous, hard-time federal penitentiary at Alcatraz, which closed nearly a half-century ago.

The 37-year-old Garcia, who will play Alcatraz expert Diego Soto, is best known for his role as Hugo “Hurley” Reyes on Abrams’ ABC drama Lost.

‘Lost’ star joining Ethan Hunt’s Impossible Mission Force

Will Paramount Picture’s strategy to bring in more sexy co-stars for “Mission: Impossible IV” might just make up for Tom Cruise getting increasingly long in the tooth? It’s unclear, but the studio certainly hasn’t given up trying. The 48-year-old star is already being paired with Jeremy Renner in the Brad Bird production and now Josh Holloway is jumping to the big screen as a member of Ethan Hunt’s Impossible Mission Force.

[It's worth noting, however, that Holloway and Renner aren't spring chickens themselves. Holloway and Renner are 41 and 39-years-old respectively.]

According to The Hollywood Reporter, little is known about Holloway’s character. It’s the first significant movie role for the “Lost” star who had to turn down numerous opportunities during the show’s six-year run.

Also joining the “IM4″ cast are Paula Patton, Vladimir Mashkov, Ving Rhames and Simon Pegg.

Production should begin soon in anticipation of a December 2011 release.

Dude! Jorge Garcia‘s going to be a bro.

The Lost alum is set to guest-star on How I Met Your Mother, a show rep tells TVGuide.com.

Garcia will play Blitz, a college friend of Ted, Marshall and Lily, who has terrible timing, always leaving a room right before things get interesting. When Ted misses a Thanksgiving eve party that Blitz attended, he wonders if he’s now the bro with bad timing.

Garcia’s episode is slated to air in November.

This is the second guest spot Garcia has booked this week: He will also appear in Matthew Perry‘s midseason ABC comedy Mr. Sunshine.

There’s no returning to Lost‘s mysterious island, but this isn’t the end for the partnership of Terry O’Quinn and Michael Emerson.

NBC has just picked up a new pilot from Lost co-creator J.J. Abrams starring the men better known as John Locke and Benjamin Linus, respectively, according to Vulture.

 The untitled project, originally named Odd Jobs, is described as a comedic drama about former black-ops agents.

Alias vets Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec will serve as writers and executive producers, with Abrams and Bryan Burk (Undercovers) also executive-producing.

O’Quinn, 58, won the Emmy for best supporting actor in a drama for Lost back in 2007. Emerson, 56, took home the same honor in 2009. Both were nominated for the series this past year.

Jorge Garcia had to go back… to ABC!

The ex-Lost Mvp has signed on to guest star in an episode of the Matthew Perry midseason comedy Mr. Sunshine, sources confirm to me exclusively.

Garcia will play a staffer at the second-rate San Diego sports arena that Perry’s character manages. He’ll appear in the pilot, which is undergoing some retooling.

It’s not difficult to figure out how Garcia’s casting came about. Perry, who also serves as an exec producer on Sunshine, is an obsessive Lost fan.

Bottom line: Hurley’s back, yo!
