January 20th is the second rumored date to make the rounds, with the first being January 27th. There is also a rumor that LOST will be taken off the air during the Olympics, but we’ll come back to that later. The January 20th premiere date for LOST has surfaced on a run-order report issued by ABC on one of their press websites. With the LOST build-up kicking off officially this week – with the season 6 promo airing behind FlashForward – it wouldn’t be surprising if this date were accurate. A lot of folks who work the ebb and flow of network press behavior were expecting a date sometime after ABC officially began to promote LOST’s sixth and final season. It’s important to note, though, that no-one at ABC has officially announced this date.

As for that Olympics rumor, a blogger for Harvard mentioned running into co-showrunner Carlton Cuse and claimed that Carlton had confirmed LOST would be leaving the air for the Olympics. Traditionally, this isn’t the case. In fact, LOST won its time-slot the last time it ran against the Olympics. LOST has since ‘lost’ some of its ratings vitality, and if they are indeed returning to Wednesday’s the island would be squaring off against Hockey – add to that the fact that NBC is planning to throw everything into the Olympics, and there may be reason to think ABC would pause the show. On the other hand, LOST fans are notoriously averse to interruptions and since this is the last stretch ABC may not be so concerned.

In its entirety, the deal will allow Netflix members to instantly watch the first five seasons of the hit ABC franchise “Lost,” seasons four and five of the pop culture phenomenon “Desperate Housewives,” season five of the critically acclaimed “Grey’s Anatomy,” and seasons one and two of the syndicated epic action-adventure fantasy series “Legend of the Seeker” from ABC Studios. Many of the episodes, including the first four seasons of “Lost,” will be available from Netflix beginning August 1. The remainder will be available in subsequent months, beginning in September.

Robert De Niro and Michelle Rodriguez are to star in the movie Machete, it has been claimed.

The film, which is to be co-directed by Robert Rodriguez and Ethan Maniquis, was featured as a mock trailer in the 2007 flick Grindhouse.

The plotline centres on a Mexican ex-federate that works as a day labourer while he hides out from a crooked politician that double-crossed him.

It is understood that the Oscar-winning actor will take on the role of Senator McLaughlin, while Rodriguez is to star as Luz, a source told BloodyDisgusting.com.

Danny Trejo, who portrayed the weapon-wielding individual in the faux coming attractions segment of Grindhouse, was also reported to be reprising his role. 21 Jump Street director-actor Jonah Hill has been suggested as being on board as Julio.

Filming for the movie is set to begin on July 29.

Comic book scribe turned screenwriter Brian K. Vaughan has certainly made his mark on the hit show Lost. But everything good must eventually come to an end. Lost producer Damon Lindelof has confirmed on the DocArzt & Friends Lost Podcast that Vaughan will not be returning for the sixth and final season of the series, and “has left for greener pastures.”

The final season of Lost has just gotten a bit longer: ABC announced they are adding an extra hour to the popular drama’s sixth and final season.

Previously, fans were informed season six would last a paltry 17 hours; now, however, Entertainment Weekly‘s Michael Ausiello reports via Twitter that the upcoming season will be a staggering 18 hours “including  two-hour premiere and  two-hour finale.”

Lost should return to TV early in 2010.
